A part of the Hippocratic Oath that all medical doctors swear to uphold says, “I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure. The original oath that Hippocrates wrote said, “With regard to healing the sick, I will devise and order for them the best diet, according to my judgement and means; and I will take care that they suffer no hurt or damage.”
My favorite saying attributed to Hippocrates, “Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food.”
Here is an example of an amazing food that helps us be healthy.
If there is a magical food, it is avocado! Magic trick #1 these Monounsaturated fatty acids or [MUFA's] melt stubborn belly fat and keep it off. Magic trick #2 they regulate blood sugar reducing the diabetes risk. Magic #3 is for your heart. When you swap a food that is high in saturated fat for an avocado every day you cut LDL the bad cholesterol by 13 points. The fourth magical use for the avocado is for your brain. It looks like from all the research that MUFAs will increase your memory and prevent the decline in your mental greatness!
So how can you get these magical fruits called avocados into your diet? For breakfast you could mash the avocado and put it on toast. You could top that off with a tomato, basil and goat cheese. Or you could scramble, and egg put some diced avocado, a tiny bit of lemon from the lemon in your morning water, a bit of hot peppers or pepper flakes and a bit of crumbled feta cheese. Doesn't that sound yummy?
How about for lunch having a melt of tuna, cheese or chicken, slices of avocado, a sliced of tomato on rye bread. and maybe a dip on rice crackers. The dip could be mashed avocado, goat cheese, sea salt, lime juice and a little hot sauce. As you can see I like hot peppers.
You can always add an avocado to your smoothie that is full of other antioxidants because beside being good for you it makes the smoothie nice and creamy.
